Elon Musk reportedly canceled The Don Lemon Show after a “tense” interview with the former CNN star. Podcaster Kara Swisher says she knew this would happen.
On Wednesday, Swisher reported that Musk told his subordinates “contract terminated” after exiting a wide-ranging interview with Lemon for the debut episode of a show he was producing to air on the Musk-owned X social media platform.
In calling the billionaire an “adult toddler,” Swisher added that she had informed Lemon that the partnership between the former cable news host and social media owner would end this way.
“The much touted multi-million-dollar deal was a pricey effort to attract high-profile media creators to X. Not so much when perpetually aggrieved billionaires in desperate need for constant affirmation run the place. So much for free speech,” Swisher wrote in a thread on X.
“I had told Don that this is exactly what would occur, including at a recent book tour event in NYC for my memoir, ‘Burn Book,’ he moderated, despite promises by Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino — who extravagantly touted this deal at CES to advertisers — that this time was different.”
Swisher then turned her attention to Yaccarino, criticizing the social media CEO for hiding the situation.
“X will have to pay out, so another unnecessary cost to a business going in the wrong direction. Yaccarino was jazz-handsing video efforts yesterday, knowing full well this had happened. It’s another embarrassment for which she will not blame her meddling boss, but everyone else.”
Elon, for any savvy or smarts he had in business, is an easily triggered and petulant little man. It would be more dignified to stay above it, but instead this is a billionaire that still tweets poop emojis and thinks the numbers 420 and 69 are hysterical punchlines. He’s emotionally stunted and could benefit from spending less time Twittering or X’ing and more time in therapy. Proof money can’t buy happiness.
