Marc Ryan took to X to announce his new position with 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit. He also sent a heartfelt message to those he worked with and those who listened while he was the afternoon host for The Fan Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina.
Ryan wrote, “For years, I’ve carried around a post-it note with three stations on it. My dream was to one day land a full-time position at one of them. Today, that dream is realized. I’m grateful [and] excited to share I’ve accepted a full-time host position at 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit, recently named one of the five best sports stations in the country.”
As for what his duties will be in Detroit, Ryan said, “In this role, I’ll host throughout the schedule and do pre- and post-game shows for the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Pistons. Jim Costa held this role previously. Needless to say, I have big shoes to fill.”
Ryan, who has also been heard previously in Houston, Tampa and Atlanta, talked about his new market. “Folks told me I wouldn’t like Detroit, and when I visited last month,” he said. “I can tell you they were right. I didn’t like it. I LOVED it. My new city is on [fire] with sports passion, and I CAN’T WAIT to get going. My wife’s family is in Detroit [and the] surrounding area, too.”
To those he is leaving, Ryan said, “My family at Audacy Greenville and The Fan Upstate have been amazing to me, and I will miss them dearly. Mark Hendrix, Steve Sinicropi, thank you for your unwavering belief in me. And to you, our listeners, thank you so much for welcoming me to this amazing place, the Upstate. It was an unbelievable honor to be your afternoon host, and sometimes your roast.”
As he signed off, Ryan again spoke to the listeners in Greenville, saying, “…From the fiery debate to the fun, I wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks for the privilege. The best decision I ever made was coming here.”
