Tucker Carlson is a polarizing figure. Some believe he’s the leading voice on the political right, while critics question his every move. Joe Rogan falls somewhere in the middle.
While discussing the former Fox News host on The Joe Rogan Experience, the comedian defended Carlson from his critics.
“He’s not a bad guy, man. He’s not. I hung out with the dude. I met him a couple of times,” shared Rogan.
During the exchange with comedians Mark Normand, Shane Gillis, and Ari Shaffir, Rogan played a viral clip of Carlson fishing in Central Park when confronted by a man who didn’t appear to know who the cable news star was. Shaffir shared that he thought Carlson came off as nice during the conversation. Later, he shared that Carlson was a former “Dead-head”, a fan of The Grateful Dead. He added that people “get a bad idea about all these people” who are conservative media pundits.
“He’s in the f—ing belly of the beast, and he recognizes it,” Rogan said, noting that while he believes Tucker Carlson is “very odd,” he also finds him to be “a good dude.”
“He’s a nice guy, man. I’m telling you. He takes on controversial subjects and becomes a lightning rod for hate.”
