Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump have what could be labeled a “complicated” professional relationship. The SiriusXM host isn’t sure those fences will be mended before the 2024 election, though.
During an appearance with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling, Kelly was asked about her recent interview with Trump, to which she admitted: “I don’t know that he loved that interview.”
“There was a contentious part about the criminal cases, and there were lovely parts too,” Kelly said. “But Trump, he kind of wants it all to be lovely. He doesn’t want any contention, even though that works — in terms of getting eyeballs to the interview, which is what he really likes. And since then he — I don’t know, he’s kind of gone on the attack against me a couple times publicly. He’s still really mad about that debate question, so not sure he’s gonna come on anytime soon.”
The “debate question” is a reference to a 2015 Presidential Primary debate question from Kelly about Trump’s voracity for verbally assaulting prominent female figures, pointing out he has called women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals.” In response, Trump famously replied “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”
When asked by Bolling if she really believes Trump is still angered by the nearly nine-year-old question, Megyn Kelly said “I think so. He brings it up a lot.”
Kelly interviewed the former President last September. After the conversation aired, Trump resumed his attacks on the SiriusXM host by saying she asked him “nasty” questions at a rally. He subsequently went on to claim the former cable news host has “made a career” by “pretending she likes me.”
