In a statement released today, Prime Video made it official that Dale Earnhardt Jr., a member of the esteemed NASCAR Hall of Fame, will be joining its broadcast booth for the exclusive coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series starting in 2025. The specifics of Earnhardt Jr.’s role have yet to be announced but will be revealed in the upcoming months as Prime Video prepares for their coverage.
“I’m honored to be a part of Prime Video’s entrance into NASCAR,” said Earnhardt Jr. “It is an exciting opportunity to have the chance to give our NASCAR fan base yet another way to watch the sport. It will be exciting to see the innovation that Prime Video is going to bring to our sport and the fans.”
Born and raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina, Earnhardt has a deep connection to the world of stock-car racing. He comes from a family of professional drivers, with his grandfather and father also having successful careers on the track. Throughout his time competing in the NASCAR Cup Series, he has won 26 races, including two iconic Daytona 500 wins in 2004 and 2014. In addition, he holds the record for winning the Most Popular Driver award for 15 consecutive years from 2003 to 2017, and back-to-back Busch Series Championships in 1998 and 1999. In recognition of his achievements, he was inducted into the prestigious NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2021. His father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., won seven Cup titles and 76 Cup race victories.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dale as an official member of the Amazon family and build our NASCAR coverage around him,” said Jared Stacy, Director of Global Live Sports Production, Prime Video. “One of the most beloved figures in racing history, Dale has an unrivaled passion for the sport. We are so excited for him to connect with NASCAR fans next season on Prime Video.”
In addition to his position on Prime Video, Earnhardt Jr. will also be a member of TNT Sports’ NASCAR coverage team. Beginning in 2025, Prime Video has secured the exclusive streaming rights for five NASCAR Cup Series races that will wrap up the first half of the season. Prime Video will also provide exclusive coverage of practice and qualifying for most of the first half of the NASCAR Cup Series season, with the exception of the Busch Light Clash, DAYTONA 500, Duel at Daytona, and NASCAR All-Star Race.
