Salem Media Group Retracts, Apologizes to Subject in Dinesh D’Souza Film ‘2000 Mules’

A documentary produced by Dinesh D’Souza2000 Mules — claimed to show a widespread conspiracy to steal the 2020 presidential election from Donald Trump. Salem Media Group, who distributed both the film and its subsequent book — has retracted the project.

One of the alleged “mules” — a term D’Souza used to describe those alleged of misconduct in stuffing ballot boxes in favor of President Joe Biden — was Mark Andrews, who was absolved of any illicit activities by the Georiga Bureau of Investigation. He filed a lawsuit against Salem, D’Souza, and the True the Vote group.

Andrews claimed the film and book led to threats against his life and his family.

Court documents reveal Salem Media Group settled the lawsuit for a substantial amount.

In a statement published to its website, the company apologized to Andrews.

“It was never our intent that the publication of the 2000 Mules film and book would harm Mr. Andrews. We apologize for the hurt the inclusion of Mr. Andrews’ image in the movie, book, and promotional materials have caused Mr. Andrews and his family,” the statement read.

The company said it “relied on representations made to us by” D’Souza and the True the Vote organization.

It concluded by stating “We have removed the film from Salem’s platforms, and there will be no future distribution of the film or the book by Salem.”
