Mike Joy has been the play-by-play voice of the NASCAR coverage on FOX Sports since 2001. He recently told Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal in a text message, “Looking forward to next year.”
Joy has been covering NASCAR since 1977 and worked his 45th Daytona 500 in February. Joy had long been a pit reporter before taking over the play-by-play with CBS in 1998. Prior to that he worked for the Motor Racing Network (MRN) Radio and was a turn announcer and anchor from 1977-1983.
Joy currently works alongside former drivers Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer and while there was no information about Bowyer’s future, Harvick has a multi-year deal which just started this season.
FOX will be starting a new seven-year agreement with NASCAR through 2031. FOX and NBC are continuing with NASCAR, however, they will also be joined by The CW, Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery as part of the new $7.7 billion media rights agreements.
