Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks on ABC averaged 12,063,000 viewers and peaked with 14,106,000. These Nielsen Fast National numbers make the game the most-watched NBA Finals Game 2 in five years.
The audience was up 10% from Game 1 which saw a disappointing 10.99 million viewers on ABC. That game is the lowest viewership number posted since 2007 other than the COVID years of 2020 and 2021. The Game 1 number was a 5% decline from Game 1 between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat in last year’s NBA Finals. It was also an 8% dip from the last time the Celtics were in the Finals in 2022.
Boston has taken the first two games of the series, and they will now shift to Dallas for Game 3 which will be played tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN.
Mike Breen, JJ Redick and Doris Burke will call the action with Lisa Salters reporting from the sidelines.
