A documentary chronicling the history of Fresno news/talk station KMJ has won a Regional Emmy Award.
KMJ: 100 Years in the Valley detailed the origins of the station and its biggest moments in covering the Fresno area. The documentary was produced by Valley PBS and filmmaker Jeff Aiello.
The project was nominated for the award in the Outstanding Achievement in Historical/Cultural News or Long-Form Content at the Northern California Area Emmy Awards, and took home the honor in the ceremony held on Saturday at the San Francisco Hilton.
“So proud of all of those talented individuals past and present that contributed to the greatness of the KMJ brand,” said Cumulus Fresno Regional Vice President and Market Manager Patty Hixson. “It’s humbling to be recognized by our peers for this honor. And a very special thank you to the Bill Tatham family for underwriting this massive project. They are truly central California and Fresno’s gem!”
Program Director Blake Taylor accepted the award alongside Aiello.
