According to GamblingNews.com, DraftKings is thinking about selling the Vegas Sports Information Network, VSiN, which it bought for $70 million in March 2021. Drawing comparisons to what happened when Penn Entertainment sold Barstool Sports back to owner Dave Portnoy, Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (EKG) say the buyers could be the original founders. Barrett Sports Media checked with a few sources and were told the story has merit. Bill Adee and Brian Musburger are said to have discussed a purchase with DraftKings, which would include resuming control of the network.
The initial story states that, “the expected synergies between media and sports betting have not worked out so far as demonstrated by Penn’s low-value sale of Barstool among other unsuccessful collaborations between sports betting and media companies. EKG says these cases indicate that media firms often struggle to become effective betting operators.”
VSiN was established in 2017 and grew quickly under Brian Musburger’s watch. The network airs now on several different platforms including YouTube TV and iHeartRadio. Its broadcast studios are located in Las Vegas at the Circa Resort and Casino.
VSiN’s talent roster includes Brent Musburger, Mitch Moss, Pauly Howard, Gill Alexander, Michael Lombardi, Patrick Meagher and Stormy Buonantony. Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr. also appear on the network through their partnership with DraftKings.
