FOX Sports Announces 2024 MLB All-Star Game Coverage Plans

FOX Sports will broadcast coverage of the 94th Major League Baseball All-Star Game this week from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The matchup will feature the likes of Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Yordan Alvarez and Paul Skenes, as the American League and National League battle for supremacy. FOX Sports is broadcasting the MLB All-Star Game for the 25th time in network history and revealed a robust commentary lineup across its platforms.

The lead broadcasting team of play-by-play announcer Joe Davis and analyst John Smoltz will call the All-Star Game starting at 8 p.m. EST Tuesday night on FOX. They will be joined by award-winning reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci, who will be situated on the field level gathering interviews and perspectives from game participants. The network will look to break a trend of record-low All-Star Game viewership, which, according to Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch, it has attained in five of the last seven years the game has been played. Last year’s All-Star Game averaged 7.01 million viewers on the network with a 3.9 rating, down 7% from the previous year.

Outside of the traditional telecast, which will be available on the FOX Sports app and to stream in 4K HDR on connected TV and “living room” applications, the company will also present comprehensive digital coverage. FOX Sports will cover the Midsummer Classic on its app, website and social media pages. Additionally, FOX Sports baseball writer Rowan Kavner will be on site in Arlington where he will demonstrate his expertise through coverage of the top players and memorable moments from the game.

Preceding coverage of the game, the MLB on FOX studio team of host Kevin Burkhardt and analysts Álex Rodríguez, David Ortiz and Derek Jeter will be commentating coverage live from the ballpark. The broadcast team started FOX coverage of the events Monday afternoon with a two-hour Live at the All-Star Game preview show that included player interviews and reflections on the first half of the season.

The grouping will resume coverage on Tuesday ahead of the on-field action, including a feature about the 1999 MLB All-Star Game and its honor of legendary Boston Red Sox outfielder and National Baseball Hall of Fame member Ted Williams. Former major-leaguers Nomar Garciaparra, Mike Piazza and Cal Ripken Jr. provided their insights for the feature. Tom Rinaldi, award-winning reporter for FOX Sports, will also present a piece encapsulating the life of Milwaukee Brewers radio play-by-play announcer and baseball legend Bob Uecker.
