Maria Garcia, Former New York/Miami News Radio Anchor, Dies

A two-time Gracie Award winner, Maria Garcia was 52.

Former Miami, New York, and Long Island news radio anchor/reporter Maria Garcia died on Friday, July 12th.

After graduating from the University of Florida, she joined the team at 940 WINZ in Miami. She also worked at 610 WIOD and WHQT in the market before moving to New York in 1996 to serve as a newswriter at WCBS Newsradio 880. Two years later, she moved to WBLI in Long Island where hs teamed with Steve Harper for a morning show for nearly a decade.

She later worked at 1010 WINS and had a second stint at WCBS before returning to South Florida.

She is survived by her son Ethan, who she shared with ex-husband Andrew Kalb.
