Vince Coglianese: MSNBC Should Be Ashamed for Not Actually Attending Republican National Convention

"Everything about it is a fake. It's totally made up. It's invented."

MSNBC attempted to appear as if its primetime hosts were in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention. The network wasn’t, however, and WMAL host Vince Coglianese believes they should be ashamed of themselves.

The cable news channel utilized LED screens showing the convention floor behind its hosts while they were located at the network’s New York studios.

“They’re not actually there. They’re there through the magic of television. They’re lying to you,” Coglianese said. “They’re lying so Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid, they’re not actually present. Which is disappointing to me for a number of reasons… Everything about it is a fake. It’s totally made up. It’s invented.

“It’s literally a camera shot that they just pipe in behind them to convince you that they’re there. They haven’t been there. They’ve been lying. They’ve been in their cushy, multimillion-dollar homes in New York. Why would they go to Milwaukee? For any reason. They wouldn’t go for a convention or otherwise wouldn’t go to Milwaukee. Their people don’t live there. So why would they be there? So, they stayed in New York.”

MSNBC was virtually the only news network that didn’t uproot its usual operations and programs and take the proverbial show on the road to Milwaukee for the convention. Fox News, CNN, and Newsmax all hosted programs from the Wisconsin city during the event, as did ABC, NBC, and CBS on the network side.

Vince Coglianese then shared his disappointment that the network’s Joy Reid wouldn’t be able to be confronted by Republican politicians and conservative voters by not attending the event.

He concluded by noting that it’s unlikely the network will not be on location for the Democratic National Convention, which is scheduled to take place in Chicago from Monday, August 19th through Thursday, August 22nd.
