Eric Von Haessler: There Will Be Radio Hosts Who Lose Their Jobs Over 2024 Election Comments

"Bye, bye. See you on the unemployment line."

The 2024 election has been a turbulent one. 95.5 WSB host Eric Von Haessler believes it could be a turbulent one for news/talk radio hosts, if they’re not careful.

During The Von Haessler Doctrine Monday, the Atlanta-based host argued that many on the political left are simply waiting on someone on the opposite side of the aisle to “say the most racist, awful thing in the world.” He added his belief that it’s a purposeful trick employed by supporters of new Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, but believes many in the conservative radio world will fall for it.

“It’s called a honey trap. And I know plenty of stupid radio people who will march right into it. ‘Well I have free speech.’ Bye, bye. See you on the unemployment line,” he said. “This radio host has vowed to never be canceled by people who are not smarter than the host. If you’re somebody who’s looking for reasons to cancel people, de facto, you’re less intelligent than this host. but there’s plenty of radio people free speech walk right into that honey trap.

“Anybody who even bothers to discuss lineage (of Harris), what the eff does that have to do with the tax rate in 2025? That’s what I’d like to know. What the eff does that have to do with whether we’re gonna get better bridges or whatever? But ‘I’m gonna question her lineage.’ Okay, bye, bye. Good luck. I won’t see you on the unemployment line because I’m not as stupid as you.”

The comments from Eric Von Haessler about radio hosts came after joking that he plans on asking his Cox Media Group bosses if he can host his afternoon radio show from home the week of the election because he doesn’t trust other Americans to act rationally during that time.
