CNN has announced the elevation of Jessica Dean to a new anchor/correspondent role for the network, where she’ll be based in New York City.

As part of her new duties, she’ll host the primetime weekend edition of CNN Newsroom while also continuing to serve as a political reporter for the cable news giant.

Since joining CNN in 2018 after working at KYW-TV in Philadelphia, she has been based in Washington D.C. as a Congressional correspondent for the network. She has also served as a fill-in anchor for daytime programs like CNN News Central, CNN Newsroom, CNN This Morning, and Inside Politics, among others. She led coverage of the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump earlier this month and was also at the anchor desk as Iran launched attacks on Israel earlier this year.

In a post to X, Dean said “Thrilled to share this news! See you on Saturdays from 4-8 (PM) and Sundays from 5-8 (PM).”

During her time as a congressional correspondent, she spent nearly two years covering the presidential campaign of President Joe Biden and also reported exclusively on his transition to the White House from his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

In addition to her local TV stop in Philadelphia, she also worked as an anchor/reporter in the Arkansas markets of Little Rock and Fort Smith.

Jessica Dean is a Little Rock native and a 2006 graduate of the University of Southern California.
