As WWE was getting set for their SummerSlam show this weekend, they welcomed in a new talent to their broadcast team. Back on July 9 it was announced ESPN’s Joe Tessitore would be moonlighting with WWE and we now know when that will begin, and which show he will be working on.
Tessitore made an appearance on the Countdown to SummerSlam show, introduced by Michael Cole. The two talked about Tessitore’s fandom and love of professional wrestling. Tessitore said he was “blessed and honored to be a part of this.”
Cole said, “But listen, I want to make an announcement tonight. Joe is actually going to start on Monday Night RAW. Monday September 2nd, Denver Colorado will be Joe’s first show. I’ll be shifting over to Friday Night SmackDown on USA, it’s gonna be exciting.”
With Pat McAfee headed back to College GameDay, the WWE announcing pairings for the fall will feature Tessitore working with Corey Graves. This means Cole will work with Wade Barrett on SmackDown when it goes back to USA starting September 13.
“We’re excited for Joe to join legendary WWE broadcaster Michael Cole and our esteemed announce team, bringing his signature energy and meticulous preparation to our WWE telecasts each week,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque when the move was announced in July.
