830 WCCO is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a series of exclusive content, including a double vinyl album with proceeds benefitting Twin Cities charities.
The station is releasing 88 minutes of audio which spans the 100-year history of the station. Each vinyl record will also feature a digital download for additional content, including tributes to former station personnel, memories of the biggest breaking news moments, and photographs.
“As we honor 100 years of being a local and regional broadcasting leader, we’re not just reflecting on our past legacy, but also spotlighting the community’s continuous support,” says WCCO Brand Manager Brad Lane. “Our centennial events and philanthropic efforts are testaments to 830 WCCO’s enduring commitment to positively impacting Minnesota!”
In addition to the double album, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz — the Democratic running mate of Vice President Kamala Harris atop the party’s ticket — has dubbed August 30th as “8-3-0 Day” in the state.
The station will continue its series of “100 Days, 100 Moments” of produced vignettes showcasing the pivotal moments in the station’s history.
Finally, 830 WCCO will host a dinner celebration on Monday, October 21st with current and former on-air hosts at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre in the southwestern Twin Cities suburb.
