96.5 The Fan, the new FM sports station formerly known on the AM dial as 610 Sports in Kansas City, has added more football programming as the station capitalizes on its partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs. The station announced a new football show which will air on either Thursday or Friday evenings. The show will be hosted by station personality Jay Binkley and various former Chiefs players will join him.
Binkley will have one of two co-hosts join him each week as the show broadcasts on location. Former Chiefs offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz will join Binkley and will rotate with former Chiefs linebacker Shawn Barber. In a partnership with the Chiefs alumni group, the Chief Ambassadors, other former Chiefs players are expected to join on a weekly basis.
Schwartz, a former second round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2012, played for the Chiefs from 2016-2020. He is scheduled to do 10 of the 16 shows with Binkley. Barber, a fourth-round draft pick of the then Washington Redskins in 1998, played in Kansas City from 2003-2005 and is scheduled to co-host six of the shows.
The station says the show will be “taking a deep dive into the latest Chiefs news, get insider perspectives on the upcoming game, and [allow fans to] sit-in on lively discussions.”
96.5 The Fan is the flagship station of the two-time defending Super Bowl champions and airs gameday coverage which features team broadcasters Mitch Holthus, Danan Hughes and Josh Klingler.
