CBS News Announces Plans for Vice Presidential Debate Between JD Vance and Tim Walz

The event between the candidates will begin at 9 PM ET, and will be broadcast on CBS, streamed on CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+.

CBS News has announced its plans for a Vice Presidential debate that will pit Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) against Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) in an October 1st event.

As previously reported, CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell and Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan will moderate the debate from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

The event between the candidates will begin at 9 PM ET, and will be broadcast on CBS, streamed on CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+. It will also be available for simulcast for other networks, similar to the first two presidential debates hosted by ABC News and CNN.

Surrounding its coverage of the event, CBS News will see chief political analyst John Dickerson and 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega anchor coverage leading up to the debate. Anthony Salvanto will provide polling and analysis throughout the network’s coverage.

Lead-in coverage of the event is scheduled to begin at 4 PM ET on the network’s streaming app, while broadcast coverage will begin with a one-hour preview show at 8 PM ET.
