Radio And Rockers Remember Former Eagle JD Souther

Souther penned Eagle’s classics “Best Of My Love,” “New Kid In Town,” and “Heartache Tonight,” as well as hits for James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt.

Music radio is remembering former Eagle’s singer and songwriter JD Souther, who passed away at the age of 78.

Souther penned Eagle’s classics “Best Of My Love,” “New Kid In Town,” and “Heartache Tonight,” as well as hits for James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt.

Former Band Mate Don Henley has said he and the late Glenn Frey often turned to J.D. Souther during creative lulls in the 1970s “when we would get stuck on a song, or we’d try to start some new material.”

Henley acknowledged that Souther contributed to the production of three of the band’s chart-topping singles.
