“It pains me to report that I am sadly included in another round of layoffs at WTOP,” Fraley wrote. “Times are tough in radio but I’m truly grateful for the past 16 years.”

Fraley added in a letter “I know these are truly tough times in the radio business, but it still stings,” noting that his position was the first job he took out of college. “It’s been a helluva 16-year run, but now I have to figure out what comes next … Either way, I remain grateful for the many amazing opportunities that this job has afforded me and I’m proud to hang my hat on one of the biggest vaults of celebrity interviews ever compiled so that future generations can listen and learn from the greatest creatives of our time.”

It remains to be seen if Fraley is the only cut. It appears as if no other WTOP employees have gone public with their departures as of this publication. Should there be more downsizing, it would be the first enacted by WTOP since late 2022 when eight veteran staffers took voluntary buyouts from the station.
