Michael Kay: I’ll Give Critics $10K to Prove I’m Taking ‘Marching Orders’ From New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman

"If you mouth-breathing lowlifes can prove that I've had interaction with Brian Cashman where he could quote, unquote, give me his marching orders, $10,000 when you give me the proof."

Michael Kay has to constantly walk a line between opinionated sports talk show host and television play-by-play announcer for the New York Yankees. That came to a head during Wednesday’s show when he torched critics of him during The Michael Kay Show.

Kay shared his displeasure with critics of him after he noted that the Yankees could potentially have an issue in the outfield as they head into the playoffs. He questioned whether the team would prefer a player that hits well but plays defense poorly, or vice versa, on the playoff roster. Fans on social media argued that Kay already knew the answer because Yankees GM Brian Cashman was laying the groundwork now so the fan base wouldn’t be upset with the ultimate decision.

That led Michael Kay to respond angrily.

“So here’s my deal. I’m going to make an offer that I’ve never made before. Those fans that say I got my marching orders from Cashman, I give you a standing offer of $10,000 right now — $10,000 cash — if you could prove that over the last two months of this year that I’ve had any interaction with Brian Cashman,” said Kay. “Walking by him, saying hello, a text, anything, email, any kind of phone conversation. If you mouth-breathing lowlifes can prove that I’ve had interaction with Brian Cashman where he could quote, unquote, give me his marching orders, $10,000 when you give me the proof.”

Kay’s comments came after he took to social media with similar attacks on his critics before Wednesday’s show.

“Please tune into (The Michael Kay Show) on 880 AM (YES Network) at 3 pm so all those mouth breathers can hear my replies to their ridiculousness and silly accusations,” Kay wrote. “Or, if they’re brave enough, call in and say it right to me. Doubt I’ll hear from you, but you have the invite. Can’t wait.”
