60 Minutes aired a special program Monday evening centered upon the candidates for President in the upcoming election. Despite Republican nominee Donald Trump refusing to participate, Bill Whitaker sat down with Kamala Harris for a long-form interview.
During the more than 20 minute televised interview, Whitaker pushed the Democratic nominee for answers to specific policy questions, past comments, and why she has appeared to change her stance on several prominent issues throughout her political career.
Whitaker also sat down with Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) during the televised special. One moment from the discussion went viral, as the 60 Minutes correspondent pressed Kamala Harris’ running mate about whether or not Americans can trust him after repeated gaffes and apparent falsehoods the governor has shared, namely the assertion that he had been in Tiananmen Square during the famous protests and massacre in 1989.
Many news media observers opined on the interview. Some lauded Bill Whitaker for his pointed questions to the presidential candidate, while others questioned the motives of the 60 Minutes correspondent.
