ESPN Draws Almost 16 Million for Chiefs-Saints on Monday Night Football

The viewership number makes it the most-viewed Monday Night Football (non-ABC simulcast) game since November 2019, a span of more than 50 games.

Monday Night Football in week five of the NFL season featured the New Orleans Saints playing at the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs improved to 5-0 on the season with a 26-13 win in a game which was carried by ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes. It drew an overall audience of 15.91 million viewers.

The viewership number makes it the most-viewed Monday Night Football (non-ABC simulcast) game since November 2019, a span of more than 50 games. ESPN says dating back to 2015, the Saints-Chiefs game is the fourth-most-watched MNF game (non-ABC simulcast).

ESPN2’s Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli, which featured Bill Belichick, Paul Rudd and the Manning family patriarch, Archie Manning, as guests also had a big night. The broadcast delivered 1.4 million viewers, making it the show’s best audience of the season. So far, the show has aired in weeks 1, 2 and 5 and the audience size has increased each episode.

ESPN also said Monday Night Countdown averaged 1.2 million viewers, up 6% from its Week 5 edition in 2023.

Monday Night Football will next feature the Buffalo Bills at the New York Jets. The Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after their most recent loss and all eyes are focused on quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
