In an interview with The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch, former NFL quarterback turned analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick has signed a three-year contract extension to remain with Amazon’s Prime Video for Thursday Night Football. Fitzpatrick, who played for 17 seasons in the NFL and played for nine different teams, had initially signed a two-year agreement with the company in 2022 following his last season in the league in Washington.
Fitzpatrick, or ‘FitzMagic’ as he is known to some, is a part of the pregame, halftime and postgame team on Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football coverage. He is teamed with Charissa Thompson, Tony Gonzalez, Richard Sherman and Andrew Whitworth.
Fitzpatrick told Deitsch on his podcast, “…I didn’t know if I wanted to go into calling games or if I wanted to just go into the pre, half, post like I ended up doing. I felt like going into the pre, half and post was dipping in my toe in the water just to feel and sense if I wanted to do it. So, I signed a short deal so I could evaluate at the end of those years. Before the season I re-signed for three more years. I love the process of this and I love the team that I work with.”
Coming off an overtime game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons, Thursday Night Football will feature the San Francisco 49ers at the Seattle Seahawks this week.
