Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo was a guest on BetQL’s You Better You Bet with Nick Kostos. While most of the segment was focused on the baseball playoffs overall and the division series games, Kostos asked Russo for his opinion on the social media chatter about Bob Costas and the TBS broadcasts of this year’s American League playoffs towards the end of the interview.

Kostas said, “I was really dismayed with the social media reaction last night and Bob Costas has not had a good series, like he has not done a good job on the play-by-play. He’s a legend though, and I think that he is unfairly being characterized now and unfairly criticized by a lot of people.” He then asked Russo, “Where are you at with the TBS’s broadcast of the Yankees and Royals and have you like me had enough of George Brett?”

Russo replied, “Oh, I was just gonna say that Nick I mean I watched the George Brett documentary last night and a baseball game broke out…I mean, what are they doing? I love George, but geez six questions in the middle of a playoff game? Bob had a tough night, he blew the call in left, the home run that he thought Judge hit…You know, he loves telling you the stories.

“We’ve learned a lot about ballpark construction with the foul territory last night, too, he brought that up. We know a lot about the [history of the] Yankees and Royals [in the 1970’s]. Yeah, he’s gotten pounded. I don’t read the social media that much but I’m aware of it. I feel bad for Bob because he’s a legend. He’s an all-timer. Probably it bothers him…Bob, I think maybe he’s got to let the game breathe a little bit.”
