WDAY, the Fargo news/talk station owned by Forum Communications, is in the process of being sold to the Fieldstone Group.
North Dakota’s oldest radio station is being acquired in a deal that will see the Fieldstone Group pay Forum Communications $600,000 for the signal. Fieldstone Group has been operating the station since signing a five-year management agreement in 2020 that included a provision to purchase the signal.
“We are thrilled to see this day arrive,” said Fieldstone Group President and Managing Partner Steve Hallstrom.“We thank the Marcil Family and the leaders and staff of Forum Communications for a great partnership these last four years. WDAY Radio has always had a tradition of serving the community with great news, weather, ag, and sports and we’ve enjoyed the journey of growing those elements with the help of our friends and partners at Forum Communications.
“It has been important to us, since day one, to serve the community with quality local programming from sunrise to sunset, which is becoming a rarity in our business. I also want to thank our listeners for their loyalty and the many local businesses and organizations that have trusted us with their advertising and marketing dollars.”
Fieldstone Group currently owns other media properties, including KTGO 1100 AM The Flag in Tioga, ND, as well as stations in Minnesota and a local newspaper, The McKenzie County Farmer, also located in North Dakota.
The purchase of WDAY Radio still needs to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission.
