ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz interviewed Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance during This Week with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday, and the contentious interview drew many reactions from the news media.

The interview on the Sunday political affairs program began with Raddatz questioning the Ohio Senator on whether or not he agreed with statements made by running mate Donald Trump on the lack of response by the Biden Administration to Hurricane Helene recovery efforts. Vance did not immediately answer the question, leading the ABC News correspondent to interrupt him and ask for a more concrete answer.

The interview did not get any less contemptuous as Vance and Raddatz sparred over a number of topics. At one point during an answer about immigrants taking over a Colorado apartment complex, Vance responded to Raddatz by asking “Do you hear yourself?” after she pushed back on a statement made by the Senator.

Many news media observers reacted to the nearly 15-minute exchange between Martha Raddatz and JD Vance on social media. Some fellow news television hosts were critical of her conduct during the interview, while others lobbied that it was just indicative of the greater media ecosystem.
