Fox News anchor Bret Baier sat down with Vice President Kamala Harris Wednesday, marking her first-ever one-on-one interview with the network.
During the nearly half-hour exchange, Baier pressed Harris for answers on her record, her past statements, and other items in a sometimes contentious interview.
Baier took to social media to showcase a behind-the-scenes view of his conversation with the Democratic nominee.
He later shared that the interview with the Vice President was supposed to begin at 5 PM, one hour before his Special Report program airs. However, he revealed that Kamala Harris was late, leading her campaign to question if what was supposed to be more than an a half-hour could be shrunk to a 20-minute interview. Bret Baier also shared that in the closing stages of the conversation, staffers were attempting to get him to wrap up the interview with boisterous movements, but he continued.
As the interview aired as a live-to-tape conversation that was subsequently aired during Special Report with Bret Baier at 6 PM ET, dozens of news media members reacted to the interview.
Most reactions were split down party lines, with conservatives applauding Baier for asking tough questions of the Vice President. Meanwhile, liberal media members were aghast at the conduct from the Fox News anchor, some labeling him a “bully” and others calling him “rude” to Kamala Harris.
The other side of the political aisle, however, didn’t share such glowing reviews of Bret Baier or Fox News after the Kamala Harris interview.
