Dave Portnoy: Barstool Sports Turned Down Kamala Harris Interview, Would Do Same with Donald Trump

"I'm just not deep enough and you don't know what to believe. I don't want to be lied to and not have ammunition."

Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are both doing as many podcast interviews as possible. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy reveals it was a destination targeted by at least one candidate.

Portnoy — who has been an outspoken critic of Vice President Harris — revealed her campaign approached the company about appearing on either Pardon My Take, BFFs, or with Jack Mac, for a potential interview. The company never agreed to the welcome the Democratic candidate, and Dave Portnoy shared his reasoning.

“First of all, I don’t think I’d want to do it,” Portnoy said on The Unnamed Show alongside Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney. “Second of all, if I were going to do it, I wouldn’t do it with other people because my opinions on politics aren’t theirs.”

He added that he would also not have allowed Donald Trump to sit down with one of the company’s podcasts, either, for similar reasons that he declined to speak with Harris.

“My issue with Trump or Kamala is if you’re asking people things and they’re answering them and you don’t know if the answers are true or not, and you don’t have enough information to push back, and you just kind of accept it, that I don’t like. I’m just not deep enough and you don’t know what to believe. I don’t want to be lied to and not have ammunition.”

While discussing the possibility of a Barstool Sports interview with the Vice President, Pardon My Take hosts Dan “Big Cat” Katz and PFT Commenter both used profanity to say they wouldn’t be interested in having that conversation.

According to Chartable, Pardon My Take is the 45th most-listened-to podcast in the country, while BFFs — hosted by Portnoy, Brianna LaPaglia, and Josh Richards — is the 77th most popular comedy podcast.
