During an interview with The Daily Signal, Coglianese discussed his distrust in the legacy media, before noting that there is a way those not working for traditional outlets to secure interesting tidbits and factoids from the biggest newsmakers in the nation.

“One other thing that I’ve learned about Capitol Hill, in particular with media, is that there’s a presence bias,” Coglianese shared. “So if you are in Capitol Hill, if you’re a reporter who’s actually in there every day, knocking on doors, seeing members of Congress, talking to them all the time, and constantly working their staffers, just being present increases the likeliness that you’re the place that these lawmakers are going to go and are going to talk to and give their scoops and talk about important issues and break past the legacy media. So it’s a complicated, dynamic environment. The media exerts a lot of influence.”

Vince Coglianese added that he believes the rise of independent, digital media outlets are as well positioned as ever to take attention away from the organizations he detests.

“People are actually turning away from a lot of legacy media. New consumers are for sure, the ruling class is still clinging to it in a lot of ways, which is why this phenomenon occurs,” he shared. “Generally, the broad electorate is turning away from it. There was a there was a poll that was just put out recently on the Sun Belt, and it was a political poll. It was based on Trump was doing really well on the Sun Belt … and they talked about media consumption habits, and the number one place that people get their news from out of all of the people who were surveyed, social media. It’s not legacy news outlets.”
