The investment made by Disney/ESPN to acquire the rights to the SEC continues to pay off in viewership numbers. This past weekend saw the ESPN Networks average 7.4 million viewers for the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs in the 3:30 p.m. ET slot. In primetime, the game between the Texas A&M Aggies and South Carolina Gamecocks drew an average of 5.6 million viewers.
The afternoon game peaked at 9.5 million viewers and was Week 10’s most watched afternoon game. The evening game peaked at 6.2 million viewers and help ABC score the top college football primetime audience for the 8th time in 10 weeks.
FOX won the week drawing 9.9 million viewers for the Big 10 matchup between Ohio State and Penn State. That made it two weeks in a row FOX came out on top, as it won the previous week in college football with the Nebraska-Ohio State game averaging 5.96 million viewers. ABC has won five of the ten weeks and each of the four major networks has won at least one of the college football weeks.
This coming weekend, the SEC on ABC features a tripleheader with Florida at No. 5 Texas at 12 p.m. ET, followed by No. 2 Georgia at No. 12 Ole Miss. The primetime window will see No. 11 Alabama at No. 13 LSU.
