Rocker 99.1 PLR New Haven, CT, successfully wrapped up its “Battle of the Box” fundraiser, raising nearly $52,000. This event, part of the “Chaz and AJ,” McDermott Chevrolet and Lexus of New Haven Toy Drive, took place on November 7th and 8th.
Local celebrities participated by being confined in a plexiglass box while enduring a loop of repetitive music.
Hosted by morning show hosts Chaz and AJ, the event saw a strong turnout from various Connecticut media figures. Prominent personalities, including Caitlin Francis and Marcy Jones from WFSB, Dennis House of WTNH, and Matt Scott from FOX 61, participated by enduring two hours of tough audio challenges for a worthy cause.
Also joining were local YouTube creators Paulie & Bri, accompanied by their dog Koda and John Pierson of WTNH, who provided live reporting. East Haven Mayor Joseph Carfora was present, showing his support for the charitable initiative.
“We are beyond thrilled by the overwhelming support we received from our amazing listeners and partners,” said Chaz. “It’s a great way to kick off the toy drive and help families in need. Thanks to everyone who participated and donated; we’re one step closer to making this holiday season a little brighter for children in need in our community.”
Funds raised over two days of uplifting spirits and lively music will support the upcoming “Chaz and AJ,” McDermott Chevrolet and Lexus of New Haven Toy Drive.
These contributions are designated to provide gifts and assistance to children in need, benefiting several local organizations, including BH Care, The Center for Family Justice, and the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.
