Longtime CNN Political Director David Chalian has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief, the network has announced.
In this expanded role, Chalian will overseen the network’s capital bureau as well as the political news coverage for CNN. He will continue to lead the daily political reporting across all platforms, as well as polling and decision desk operations.
He will continue to serve as the Political Director in addition to his new executive role.
David Chalian joined CNN in 2013 before being named Political Director a year later. Previously stops include serving as the Vice President of Video Programming at POLITICO, as well as Washington Bureau Chief for Yahoo! News, and television stops with PBS and ABC News.
Chalian takes over the bureau chief role that was previously held by Sam Feist. He departed CNN earlier this year to become the CEO of CSPAN, which he called “an American treasure” when he accepted the job in May.
