ESPN will be available as part of Disney Plus starting on December 4 according to a company announcement. “The next step in ESPN’s direct-to-consumer (DTC) future launches Wednesday, December 4 ahead of ESPN’s flagship standalone direct-to-consumer offering launching early Fall 2025.” the company said on its social media.
Disney+ will have a tile which takes consumers to the ESPN programming. ESPN has said there will be some sports offerings to those who don’t subscribe to ESPN+ but do have Disney+
During the company’s September earnings call, it was said this first step would give fans “full access to all of the ESPN+ sports content they love while inside Disney+, similar to the experience we offer bundle subscribers with Hulu on Disney+,” according to Disney CEO Bob Iger and CFO Hugh Johnston.
Pricing for ESPN Flagship has not been announced yet, however ESPN+ is priced at $11.99 per month of $119.99 per year. ESPN Flagship will carry the ESPN+ programming plus everything offered by ESPN through its linear programming. During the earnings call, Iger and Johnston said the DTC offering will have “an enhanced array of innovative digital features, creating a sports destination unlike anything available in the marketplace today. These expanded content offerings should generate higher engagement, resulting in lower churn, as well as even greater advertising potential.”
