Great Plains Media has taken over the operations of adult hits station “Bob 97.9” WBBE in Bloomington, IL, and has submitted a proposal to acquire the station from Woodward Communications.
Woodward Communications is selling off the recently acquired stations from Neuhoff Media in the Bloomington market. (BMM 11/14) Great Plains Media has entered into a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) with Woodward for “Bob 97.9” and announced plans to purchase the station on Friday, November 15.
“We welcome Bob FM to the Great Plains Media stable of stations,” Great Plains Media Bloomington Owner Jerry Zimmer said. “With the addition of Bob FM, we feel that Great Plains Media now has a format and audience to serve every person and every advertiser in the Bloomington-Normal area.”
Great Plains Media Bloomington has been a key player in the Bloomington-Normal area since 2007, operating several radio stations. These include the Country WIBL (107.7) and its FM translator, the Bloomington-licensed 92.1. The lineup also features the talk station “Cities 92.9” WRPW and AC “Magic 99.5” WZIM.
