According to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, ESPN’s Around the Horn will come to an end sometime in the summer of next year. Glasspiegel had reported this possibility going back to July, with sources telling him the show would end before the start of the 2025-26 football season.
The show, which launched on ESPN in 2002, has been hosted for the last 20 years by Tony Reali who took over in 2004 from original host Max Kellerman. Reali stepped in when Kellerman left the network for Fox Sports Net. The show had taken the time slot previously occupied by Unscripted with Chris Connelly.
The show has aired over 4,800 episodes and has been overseen by Erik Rydholm who is the creator of Pardon the Interruption and serves as its executive producer. Aaron Solomon has been the longtime producer of Around the Horn.
The Gazette’s Woody Paige will go down as the all-time leader in wins and appearances on the show as he has earned the title more than 1000 times more than The Dallas Morning News’ Tim Cowlishaw who is the only other person besides Paige to win more than 500 times. Other top performers include Bill Plaschke, Kevin Blackistone, J.A. Adande and Jay Mariotti.
Only seven panelists have ever appeared on the show without winning at least once. John Powers and Dan Shanoff both have the distinction of having appeared on the show the most times without ever winning, both appeared five times.
Five people can claim a 100% winning percentage, all appearing on the show once and winning the episode. That group is made up of Mark Cuban, Lil Wayne, Bruce Arthur, Malika Andrews and Christine Williamson.
