Kevin Kisner Named Lead Golf Analyst for NBC Sports

"I’m looking forward to offering a different voice and adding a new dynamic to the broadcasts, hopefully reaching more fans and telling things like it is. That’s what I think I do best."

Four-time PGA TOUR winner Kevin Kisner has been named the lead analyst for golf coverage on NBC Sports, succeeding Paul Azinger in the role after he departed the company following the expiration of his contract. Under his new role, he will work with play-by-play announcer Dan Hicks for presentations of PGA TOUR events and major championships broadcast by the network. Some of these men’s golf events include the U.S. Open, the Open Championship, the FedExCup Playoffs, the Ryder Cup and the PLAYERS Championship.

“Kevin always shared frank and honest opinions about the game of golf during our various conversations through the years,” Tommy Roy, lead golf producer for NBC Sports, said in a statement. “Those kinds of opinions and his engaging personality make Kiz a great fit for our broadcast team. He knows these players, he knows this game, and the audience will get to hear more of those opinions and that personality this season.”

Although Kisner will be giving analysis for several key properties within the PGA TOUR, he will also maintain a limited playing schedule for competitions within the organization as well. Kisner most recently won the Wyndham Championship in 2021 and served as a captain’s assistant at this year’s iteration of the Presidents Cup in Montréal, Québec. Earlier this year, he made his debut as an analyst on NBC Sports coverage of the PGA TOUR, commentating events such as the WM Phoenix Open, The PLAYERS and the FedExCup Playoffs. Kisner worked with Smylie Kaufman for Happy Hour coverage as these events were taking place as well.

“I’m humbled and grateful to have the chance to sit in the seat that many legends like Johnny Miller and Paul Azinger have sat in before me on NBC,” Kisner said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to offering a different voice and adding a new dynamic to the broadcasts, hopefully reaching more fans and telling things like it is. That’s what I think I do best. I’m also excited to continue to compete on the PGA TOUR amongst my peers, which I think will help me to tap into what these guys are really feeling on the course.”

Earlier in the day, Sports Business Journal reported that Kisner’s role will only focus on weekend coverage from NBC. The company is also reportedly expected to continue utilizing two play-by-play announcers and two analysts rotating holes at major events. This rotation is expected to include returning commentators Brad Faxon, Curt Byrum, Terry Gannon, Steve Sands and the aforementioned Kaufman.
