CNN has announced a new daily lineup as part of an overhaul for the legacy cable news brand, with new roles for hosts like Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, Audie Cornish, and Kasie Hunt.
As part of the new lineup, Rachel Solomon will host 5 Things beginning at 5 AM ET. At 6 AM ET, the network will debut CNN This Morning with Audie Cornish. Cornish steps into the timeslot previously occupied by Kasie Hunt, who moves to a new program in the 4-5 PM ET window called The Arena.
Other changes in the network’s lineup include Wolf Blitzer moving from his longstanding afternoon timeslot to the 10 AM-Noon window alongside Pamela Brown.
With Hunt’s move to the 4 PM ET timeslot, The Lead with Jake Tapper will now be seen in the 5-7 PM ET window, one hour later than previously.
The network’s primetime lineup — featuring Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, Kaitlan Collins, and Abby Phillip — remains unchanged.
CNN did not release details for plans in the overnight hours. Previous reporting from former network media reporter Oliver Darcy claimed CEO Mark Thompson had approached Jim Acosta — who had hosted late mornings — to move to the Midnight to 2 AM ET timeslot. That change was not reflected in the new offerings, and Acosta was not mentioned in a release from the network.
