FOX Corp. has announced that it is purchasing Red Seat Ventures, the digital media company that features partnerships with shows hosted by Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Eric Bolling, and Bill O’Reilly.
The company says Red Seat Ventures will remain a “standalone entity” inside its Tubi Media Group. The CEO of Tubi Media Group, Paul Cheesbrough, will be the chairman of Red Seat.
He said working with the founders of the organization — Chris and Kevin Balfe — will lead to an expanded footprint for the outlet and is excited to add the company to the FOX Corp. family.
“Working with two outstanding entrepreneurs like Chris and Kevin, we see tremendous opportunities to drive additional scale in genres such as sports, news, and entertainment and look forward to supporting the continued growth of this business,” Cheesman said.
“The creator economy is one of the fastest growing media categories worldwide by measure of reach and influence, and consumers are increasingly looking to get their information, insights, and entertainment directly from the voices and brands they trust across these platforms,” he added.
Red Seat Ventures provides studio and production for independent creators, as well as advertising sales and marketing consultations. Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Eric Bolling, Piers Morgan, and Bill O’Reilly are all associated with the company in some fashion.
Chris Balfe shared his position on the deal, stating “I’m so exited to share the news that Fox Corporation has acquired Red Seat Ventures. I’m staying on as CEO, and with the help of FOX, will accelerate our growth in the creator economy. I’m thankful beyond words for the support of our clients and employees.”
Elsewhere on social media, former host Megyn Kelly dispelled any notion that the move would mean she is returning in any capacity to the Fox News family. She shared that she is “happy for Fox & Red Seat” before adding that the purchase has “virtually nothing to do with me.”
