iHeartMedia has announced a new podcast hosted by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) that claims to feature conversations with those on the opposite side of the political aisle.
This is Gavin Newsom released a teaser trailer on Wednesday, showcasing the California governor stating that he’s looking forward to the new series that he claims will buck the traditional political podcast trends.
“We need to change the conversation,” said Newsom. “That’s why I’m launching a new podcast. This is going to be anything but the ordinary ‘politician’ podcast. I’m going to be talking to people directly that I disagree with, as well as people I look up to. But more important than anything else, I’ll be talking directly with you, the listener. Real conversations … There’s an onslaught of information we take in, so let’s take it to the sources without the typical political mumbo jumbo.”
Newsom promised several of the first episodes of the podcast would include conversations “with some of the biggest leaders and architects in the MAGA movement.”
The newly announced podcast comes after Newsom had previously announced a podcast with iHeartMedia that included former NFL star Marshawn Lynch. That project, however, never came to fruition.
It is not the first foray into the podcast space with a current political leader for iHeartMedia. The company has featured the Verdict with Ted Cruz podcast — hosted by the Republican Senator — since 2022.
Gavin Newsom was elected to Governor of California in 2018 after previously serving as Lieutenant Governor of the state, in addition to his time as Mayor of San Francisco. He is currently serving his second term as Governor, which will end in 2026. He has been widely regarded as one of the potential frontrunners for the 2028 Democratic Party ticket for President.
