710 WOR has featured Larry Mendte in morning drive after previous hosts Len Berman and Michael Riedel were let go amid iHeartMedia’s latest round of cuts last year. Now, the station is making it permanent.
Mendte in the Morning was officially announced on Monday. Mendte joined the station in 2023 as its news director and morning news anchor after previously working as the News Director and host of WJLP-TV in New Jersey.
“I am both thrilled and humbled by this opportunity,” Mendte said. “Thrilled because 710 WOR is iconic, and humbled because I am walking in the footsteps of legends.”
“Since joining our team in 2023 as our news director and morning drive news anchor, Larry has built a strong connection with our listeners, who have responded very positively to his time as our interim morning show host,” said 710 WOR Program Director Tom Cuddy.
“His remarkable career, which includes an astounding 97 Emmy awards and stints at WABC Radio, Channel 7 Eyewitness News, WPIX/11, and Access Hollywood, speaks for itself. With all of this experience, he’s the ideal choice to wake up the tri-state area,” continued Cuddy.
Mendte has plenty of television experience, including positions at KYW-TV and WCAU-TV in Philadelphia, in addition to his work at WBBM-TV in Chicago.
Larry Mendte will be joined in morning drive on Mendte in the Morning by news anchor Jacquelyn Karly. Meanwhile, longtime producer Natalie Vacca will continue to produce the show, which airs from 6-10 AM.
