Doug Abernethy has announced his exit from Audacy in the coming weeks, making him the latest executive at the company to depart.

Abernethy joined the company in 2015 as the Vice President and Market Manager of the company’s South Florida market. He has overseen the company’s Austin, Denver, Gainesville, Greensboro, and Greenville markets during his tenure before taking oversight of 16 markets nationwide when he was promoted to Regional President in 2017 when CBS Radio and then-Entercom merged.

The longtime radio executive has spent more than 35 years in the business, holding multiple senior management positions in multiple formats in 25 markets over the years.

In an email to Audacy colleagues, Doug Abernethy shared his admiration to the staffers he has worked alongside during his long tenure with the company.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside you during the past ten plus years with the company, and for some, my thirty six years in the industry,” Abernethy wrote. “Each market, team and person I have had the pleasure to work with has made a lasting impression on me. I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together and confident in your continued success.”

His final day with Audacy will be on Friday, May 9th.

After emerging from pre-packaged bankruptcy in recent months, Audacy has seen a bevy of departures from its executive team.  Earlier this month, Audacy Chief Digital Officer and President of Podcasting and Streaming J.D. Crowley announced he was leaving the company. His exit coincided with the departure of Chief Operating Officer Susan Larkin, Chief Marketing Officer Paul Suchman, and Executive Vice President and General Counsel Andrew Sutor.

Additionally, the company named Kelli Turner as its permanent CEO after she took the reins on an interim basis after previous CEO David Field resigned. Audacy Executive Vice President of Podcasts Jenna Weiss-Berman has also departed the company since the calendar turned to 2025.
