Late last year, NBC News reporter Dasha Burns left the outlet to join Politico. Now, her role is expanding as the outlet launches the Playbook podcast.
Burns originally joined Politico as the White House bureau chief. However, now she and Jack Blanchard are tabbed with hosting the new Playbook Podcast, taking the outlet’s flagship newsletter into a digital daily show. Blanchard serves as the Managing Editor and author of the daily Playbook newsletter.
The outlet has also added a new weekly program hosted by Dasha Burns. Dubbed The Conversation, the program will release new episodes on Sundays and will be a “show that goes beyond the headlines and talking points to spotlight the influential voices, big ideas, and important debate driving Washington.”
“With Jack, who has established his version of Playbook as the essential morning read in Washington by skillfully decoding politics, polsy and power, and Dasha, a proven force on the Trump beat, Playbook will continue to deliver what makes it so essential: a clear, aggressively nonpartisan and deeply reported distillation of what matters now and why,” a joint statement from Politico CEO Goli Sheikholeslami and Global Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris sent to employees on Sunday evening.
The daily podcast from Politico joins a space dominated by shows like The Daily from The New York Times, Today, Explained from Vox Media, and several similar shows from NPR, among others.
Additionally, the outlet is adding Adam Wren to join as a contributing author to the Friday and Saturday editions of the Playbook newsletter.
