The Region 4 winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards have been announced by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), and 830 WCCO in Minneapolis and 620 WTMJ in Milwaukee each earned top honors.
In the Radio | Large Market category, 830 WCCO won five awards for its news/talk radio coverage in the Twin Cities. It earned the top honor for Breaking News Coverage, Continuing Coverage, Excellence in Writing, Feature Reporting, and the top honor — Overall Excellence.
In the same category, 620 WTMJ earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Sound for its reporting on the 30 year anniversary of a bank robbery and shootout with police, and the revisit of that story.
Public Radio stations took home the other wins in the large market portion. WUWM in Milwaukee won the top honor for best Digital endeavor, as well as the best Podcast.
Meanwhile, MPR News earned top honors for best Newscast, News Series, News Documentary, Hard News, and Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Region 4 from the RTDNA encompasses Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
