Two stars from LSU’s 2007 national championship team are reuniting, this time behind the microphone. Former LSU quarterback Matt Flynn is joining his old teammate Jacob Hester as the new co-host of the morning show on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge. Flynn replaces T-Bob Hebert, who hosted his final Off The Bench program with Hester on Friday morning after eight years at Guaranty Media to take a position with Barstool Sports.

Flynn, who helped led the Tigers to the 2007 national title, went on to play seven seasons in the NFL, including a Super Bowl XLV victory with the Green Bay Packers. Flynn has been a regular contributor to Hester’s evening program, Hangin’ with Hester, since its debut in 2018, as well as to the morning show Off the Bench.

“Back at LSU, Flynn called the plays and I did the heavy lifting,” Hester joked. “Nothing has changed, except now it’s on live radio. Honestly, I just needed someone to blame when things go off the rails. And who better than my good friend and old signal caller? I’m fired up for all the chaotic energy and pro-level sports takes we’re about to unleash on your morning commute.”

Hester, who joined Off the Bench in 2021, will now take the lead on the restructured show. Despite the changes, the program will retain its name Off The Bench—marking its third iteration since launching in 2017.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Matt Flynn to the daily lineup,” said program director Matt Moscona. “He checks every box that we were looking for: deep knowledge of the teams we cover, credibility with our audience and a dynamic on-air personality. We feel like this will be talk radio gold.”

The show originally launched with Jordy Culotta and Hebert in 2017. When Culotta left in 2021, Hester moved from his mid-day slot to team up with Hebert. Now, Hester and Flynn will co-host weekday mornings from 7 to 10 a.m. beginning on June 2.

In addition to airing on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge, Off the Bench is syndicated in Alexandria on 94.7 ESPN and in Shreveport on 1130 AM The Tiger.
