On Tuesday evening, Tucker Carlson released a clip of him arguing with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and his lack of knowledge on specific facts about Iran.
Carlson revealed that he had sat down with Cruz for a full-fledged interview that is set to drop on Wednesday.
In a clip promoting the interview, Carlson and Cruz raise their voices at one another over the Senator’s lack of knowledge about Iran.
Ted Cruz has since responded to the clip — which as of this publication, has seen more than 22 million views on X alone — by arguing that it included a series of “gotcha” questions from Tucker Carlson.
“Did a long interview (with) Tucker. He released a snippet playing a ‘gotcha’ on the population of Iran. I declined to play that silly game,” Cruz wrote. He added that in the interview, Carlson attacks President Donald Trump and “falsely claims Iran is not trying to assassinate” the sitting president.
The video set social media ablaze. Since being published, it has eclipsed more than 24 million views and more than 32,000 retweet and quote tweets on the X social media platform.
Reactions from news media members were divided. Some sided with Carlson, others criticized the former Fox News host, while some focused on his interview ability and disagreed about whether or not he was guilty of using “gotcha” journalism.
