The Nashville-based Big Machine Label Group is expanding its footprint with the launch of a new imprint, Ascend Music, in partnership with veteran music executive Joel Klaiman.
The venture aims to spotlight cross-genre talent. At the same time, building on the proven formula of multi-format success between Klaiman and BMLG Founder, Chairman & CEO Scott Borchetta.
“Joel’s energy, vision, and passion are contagious, and he never leaves any stone unturned when he’s working with an artist,” Borchetta said. “He’s bringing great artists to the partnership, and we will be wasting no time in getting out some game-changing music.”

This new venture will fuel the growth of our artists and expand Ascend Music’s global repertoire – aligned with both our companies’ shared vision and a strategy that unlocks exciting opportunities for all involved.”
Klaiman, who now serves as Founder & CEO of ASCEND4M, brings decades of industry experience and a deep history with Borchetta. The pair first joined forces in 2008 to promote Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” which reached No. 1 on both country and pop radio charts.
Klaiman played a key role in shaping the rollout of Swift’s Fearless, Speak Now, and Red albums during his tenure as EVP of Promotion & Artist Development at Republic Records.
Ascend Music’s first artist signing is expected to be announced later this week.
