Martha Zoller, the longtime midday host at WDUN in Gainesville, Georgia, has passed away after a sudden illness.
What We Know: Martha Zoller died on Monday. In a statement, her family revealed that she suffered a heart attack. Her death comes days before she was to host her final show on WDUN. Earlier this month, she announced plans to retire from the mid-morning show she had hosted since 2019. It marked her second stint on the station. In total, she spent more than 25 years at WDUN.
What They Said: “I’m stunned. When I spoke with her before the show on Friday, she was full of energy, and we were sharing some jokes. She texted from the hospital. I think back on all the calls we shared during her time away. We kept up with each other, and I was excited when she returned to WDUN. More than a great broadcaster, she was a great friend. Always willing to help whomever she could, wherever she could.” -WDUN GM Bill Maine
What Remains Unclear: What coverage plans WDUN will dedicate to Zoller.
What It Means: Zoller was a fixture at WDUN. Her decades of experience made her one of the key voices in the marketplace. It is especially sad, knowing that she was preparing for her next chapter and retirement. Martha Zoller was 67.
