The FOX Sports Saturday night presentation of two games within its Baseball Night in America franchise averaged 2.02 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research, becoming the most-watched Major League Baseball game telecast this season on any network. A preponderance of the country had access to watch the Chicago Cubs’ victory over the New York Mets, while other viewers watched the Minnesota Twins’ win over the San Francisco Giants.
The viewership milestone occurs as FOX Sports is in the midst of celebrating its 30th year covering the league with a regular-season broadcast schedule that includes various marquee presentations. Adam Amin, A.J. Pierzynski and Ken Rosenthal called the Cubs-Mets game live from Citi Field on Saturday night, while Jason Benetti and Tom Verducci were on hand at Target Field to document the action between the Twins and Giants.
FOX Sports will continue its MLB coverage with three games airing this Saturday, including two on its primary broadcast network. Viewers around the country will be able to watch one of two interleague matchups on FOX – the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox or the Minnesota Twins against the Milwaukee Brewers – both of which begin at 7 p.m. EST. Before the first pitch of those games commences, the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles will play at 4 p.m. EST on FS1 and FOX Deportes.
FOX Sports will be airing a rematch of the World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers on May 31. During the month of June, the company will air two games between the Yankees and rival Boston Red Sox, in addition to a Lone Star Showdown featuring the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. FOX Sports will also air the MLB Speedway Classic from Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee when the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds face off. The MLB All-Star Game and various games throughout the postseason, including the 121st World Series, will air on the platforms amid the year as well.
